Is it too late? Am I hopeless?
Due to illness, travel for work and laziness/fear having missed so much group training, I am wayyy behind. The last Tri-Zones south training I went to was the first swim workout at Circle C. Am I doomed? Can I catch up? I was already a newbie now i am even further behind... What should I do? I don't wanna drag down the group.

If you are in the South
If you are in the South group, just show up to your workout tomorrow morning and talk with your coach. As for the workout and dragging down the group, there is NO such thing! So, make sure you show up tomorrow and get that workout in! :)

never too late
due to the unexpected death of my husband, my first year I missed every pool swim workout and the first time I swam with the group was in the open water at Lake Walter E. Long! Thank goodness for the people in this group! Â

I am a beginner and part
I am a beginner and part of the South Group,  You will be surprised what you can accomplish with the support of everyone around you.  The coaches are amazing.  I have missed a class or two and will miss the last week of May just  before the Danskin. Its never to late to challenge yourself.  I hope you come out in the morning. Â
scared
Now that the triathlon is so close I am pretty scared about my ability to perform. I have not joined a training group and have been training on my own. My biggest fear is of being last. Is this triathlon full of 20 year olds in perfect condition? I am 45 and not in perfect condition. Also, do I need to buy a swim cap or will one be provided. Lastly do people wear aqua shoes to help make the transition from water to land??
 Thanks for your support.

Nothing is hopeless
You may need to readjust your goals. Â
I see that you indicated in your profile that you can swim 250m, can ride 5-10 miles and can run 1/2 mile which means you are far, far ahead of where I started.
What race are you training for and what kind of goals did you set? You may need to adjust your goal for your first tri to "finishing and having fun" with no time limit.Â
