Rosedale Ride

When: Mar 24 2007 - 8:30am
Distance: 20,28,42,62
Location: Austin, Texas
On the Web: http://www.rosedaleride.org/

Yes, the annual Rosedale Ride is just around the corner, set for March 24, 2007, starting at Applied Materials and winding through the rolling countryside east of Austin. Started in 1995 with just a few dozen riders, it has grown to more than 1,300 strong!

And the 2007 ride looks to be better than ever! Both Ponty Bone and the Eggmen will provide the entertainment. The Moose and his entire moose herd will be with us, offering more of his now-famous barbecue. At even this early date, the silent auction is taking fine shape with wonderful contributions from individuals and corporations alike.

While some see the Rosedale Ride as the start of warmer riding weather, it’s really so much more than a bicycling event. Since 1999, the Ride has raised more than $300,000 for the students at Rosedale School, Austin Independent School District's only school for children with multiple disabilities.

Rosedale Ride

Joe and I are going to do the Rosedale ride, but probably only the 24 miler.  Who's doing what?

LittlePam's picture

I wanted to do the 42, but I

I wanted to do the 42, but I didn't ride at all this weekend.  And Rosedale is in 2 weeks.  So depending on what I ride next weekend, either the 28 or 42.  42 would probably be suicidal, since I'm not in shape for it.  But I wanna!  We'll see.

Quite a few of us are doing the metric century

although some of my ride buddies from yesterday (who shall remain nameless) have not yet signed up (but I have!)

Route?

What is the route like on this one. Im trying to determine how hard i want to ride the day before the cap 10K

LittlePam's picture

It goes all through the area

It goes all through the area east of I-35 around Pflugerville.  It's not very hilly.  Usually quite windy.

Rosedale

I plan on doing the 60 mile route, trying to get in some miles before the MS 150.  Saturday was a great day for a ride. My son and I did the 44 at Spokes and Spurs.  Saw some triZoners.

Hope to get in 50 or so this week-end weather permitting.  Annette stay in touch.  What about Stacy. I know a route in the Pflugerville area that we can do to get us around the 50 or so.  If you have another route in mind let me know.   If anyone else is interested let us know.l

I'm okay with P-ville

I was just looking at the ACA Cotton Capers map, but I haven't ridden it since the toll roads were put in. So far we've got Stacy, Carolyn, Rhonda, you and me - and I'm planning on riding SUNDAY (the 18th). When it stops raining I'll drive the CC route and see if it's doable.

Sunday ride

My rjoute is guess work from past rides.  If you have a ride that you know the distance that would be better. Let me know. I need to get some miles in.  That Salado ride sounds pretty good. Not sure what that weekend looks like yet.  If I can I may try to ride it.

Im in

Raz and I will ride in Rosedale, but we arent sure what distance yet, either 28 or 42.. since Cap 10K is the next day Im not sure what we will feel like. Not that ap 10K is a goal race, its just for fun, but I dont want to have to waddle through it.

Countdown to Rosedale

Joe and I really enjoyed the "Be Nice . . ." ride Saturday, but it demonstrated to me that I should stay with the 28 miler, not the 42.  So, unless the weather is really, really nice, Joe and I will be doing the 28.

We're riding

Tom and I are riding...and Tom REALLY wants to do the 42. I dunno. Neither of us has been out for more than 25 in months. We'll all start together anyhow no matter what we decide. See you out there!

Pam

I'm out

I'll be making a trek to Nacogdoches so as not to disappoint my daughter (Ellie) for her sorority's parent weekend.  Y'all have fun without me and I'll see some of you the next morning at Cap 10K!

I'll be there

along with friends, Denise, David, and Richard!

Just signed up

Tom and I are signed upo for the 42! Looking forward to it!

P.

Jeff & I finally are signed

Jeff & I finally are signed up. We're gonna do the 28. Did anyone look at the maps?  28 is actually 32.  And 42 is 45.  Crazy.  BTW, it is NOT going to rain.

Tom and I are signed up to

Tom and I are signed up to do the 63 mile route.  We'll see everyone Saturday morning!

Meeting Spot Sat. Morning?

Joe and I will be doing the 32 - at least to the turn (left for 32 or right for 22!)  Depends on the weather.  Is there some place we can try to gather to organize ourselves into the different ride lengths?

The ride starts at 8:30.  Should we plan to be there around 7:30 to park, pump tires, etc.?

Concordia

Concordia University student government has the first water stop, supposedly. I only mention this because I work there, and I have informed them that we have a sizeable group riding. Rosedale has a service-learning component at Concordia, so we know some of the students very well, as they come pick up our recycling daily. Please stop at the first rest stop and say hi to the CUA students.. its early on a Sat. morning for them!!!!

Oh, and now I dont know if I want to do 22 or 32.. probably 32, but we'll see how the weather/course is...

sarahrichard's picture

7:30

And 7:30 is fine with me... shall we congregate somewhere near porta potties? seems like our natural meeting space anyway ;)

Coach Jenny's picture

7:30 ish

At the porta potties is probably a good idea.  I'd say be in the parking lot by 7:30 and at the porta potties in time to be through in the porta potties by 8:05.

sarahrichard's picture

CHAPSTICK

There will be free chapstick at the first water-stop.. its green instead of COncordia purple, but thats what happens when the fundraising office goofs.. lol

SO stop and get your very own, limited edition Concordia Chapstick..

akobus's picture

no need to go to 'packet pickup'

I'm probably the last person to figure this out, but I wanted to get my Rosedale "packet" and Cap10K packet at lunch today. Only it was a wasted trip to the Rosedale school - there wasn't anything to pickup. No number, and I selected the 'donate the tshirt money' option when I registered. But I did have a Rosedale Burger at Phil's Ice House!

Meet at porta-potties at 7:50

Hey gang --

Try to arrive by 7:15 or 7:30, then we'll meet at the bank of porta-potties by 7:50.

Let's cross our fingers for no rain!

LittlePam's picture

Ok, am I wrong?  The ride

Ok, am I wrong?  The ride doesn't start until 8:30.  Jeff and I are planning to arrive by 8.  We'll find you somewhere out there.

Coach Tracy's picture

OK - 2 chances to meet

For those who want to sleep in, er, I mean arrive later, I'll swing by the porta-potties at 8:15 to let you know where we're lining up at the start, distances, etc.

(if it's not raining.  If it's raining, I'll be the one sleeping in!!!)

:-)

cmarek59's picture

We're with Pam & Jeff

We're planning on arriving at 8.  It's an hour drive for us so I'd like to sleep in until at least 6, if you can call that sleeping in! Â
