Tri Zones is happy to announce training for the Zooma Women's Half Marathon!
By Coach Tracy - January 3, 2009 - 12:21pmThere's a new half marathon in town: the Zooma Women's Half Marathon (although women and men can run the race!). It's on April 4 and will be at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop. The course is rolling hills near beautiful Bastrop, starting and ending at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. The finisher's "medal" is a silver necklace! Post-race festivities include mini spa treatments, catered brunch, live music, shopping and more. We're working out details for a Tri Zones team discount on the race's registration fee.
Tri Zones is happy to announce a training program to help you get ready for Zooma. We'll start on Wednesday, January 7 and continue through race day, April 4. We welcome ALL speeds. You should comfortably be able to run 4 miles before beginning this program.
Workout Days: Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30pm
Location: Doss Elementary School
Plus Optional Saturday long runs, usually starting at Barton Springs or Lady Bird Trail
All members of the Zooma Half Marathon training group will receive:
- Coached weekly Wednesday night track workouts, with emphasis on improving technique, form, strength, balance, and speed
- Optional group long runs on Saturday

- Written training schedule every month
- Implementation of heart rate training
- Strength work guidance, including core strength

- Email access to coach for questions, tips, and guidance
- Access to our team web site and discussion forum
- Team tent at the finish line of the team's goal races
- Information about:
- Running shoes
- Technical apparel
- Nutrition
- Hydration
- Stretching
- Recovery
- Complimentary technical team goody for races
- Discounts from our sponsors
- Discounted registration on subsequent Tri Zones Training programs

- Fitness and 5K/10K speed improvement - Stay in shape, improve your form, get faster!
- Half Marathon - We'll help you get ready for the 3M Half Marathon and/or the AT&T Austin Half Marathon!

- Marathon - Train for the 26.2 miles of fun at the AT&T Austin Marathon!
All group workouts are run workouts at the track, where team members will enhance running form, increase speed, and improve endurance. Our off-season training schedule continues to emphasize the benefits of cross-training with swimming and cycling workouts included on the schedule throughout the week. We believe strongly in offering a wise training program that includes plenty of recovery.
